Framing Awards 2019: Call for entries!

Post by Ian Kenny Framing »

The Guild weekend is being held in Stratford on 18th & 19th May.

Entering the Best Mount Design competition and the Guild Framing Challenge is a chance for framers to showcase their skill and creativity. All finalists for these competitions are also entered into a Best in Show category, and the Best in Show winner is chosen by a vote from everyone attending the weekend. Entering, being shortlisted or even winning one of these competitions can be a really great way to provide yourself with fresh new marketing material. Entries are also featured in Art +Framing Today magazine, as well as on the Guild's social media channels. You can enter any or all of the competitions whether you are a member of the Guild or not.

NEW for 2019: There are now two categories for the Best Mount Design award - one for users of CMCs and one for those of you who use a manual cutter. The theme this year is the 150th centenary of Charles Rennie Mackintosh, and the challenge is to creatively mount a photograph of one of his iconic chairs.
Our thanks go to Gunnar who sponsor the Best CMC mount design, and to Colourmount, who sponsor the Best Hand Cut mount award.

The Guild Framing Challenge 2019 is on the theme of gin. This is an open competition, so you can frame any image, object or collection with a Gin theme. Our thanks to Valiani who are our sponsors for this competition.
In both contests, the objective is to show off your skills and creativity with a setting which complements the artwork. Don’t treat these competition pieces like a job for a customer. Be out there, be super creative, let your imagination run riot!

The entry fee for each award is £18 for members and £36 for non-members and the deadline for entries is 15th March 2019.

You can register your interest at http://www.fineart.co.uk/awards or call Moira Saunders on 020 7381 6616. Look out for more information in Art +Framing Today magazine which will be out soon.
