just cloud
I downloaded the ap to back up my phone, worked great, was going to purchase it after the trial ran out but didn't get round to it, a few days later I got an email from them offering 70% off
so I looked at the site again, £36 recurring charge once a year for unlimited space and you can stick all your computers on there too, you can sync folders like drop box, bargain.

Not sure that I would pay for cloud storage. Google gives you 15GB free for documents, and you can then use Google music for up to 20,000 songs and Picasa for up to 1GB of photos. There are loads of others, e.g. photobucket, ubuntu storage, dropbox, skydrive etc. so even if one wasn't enough you could sign up for more.

1.2TB - WTF!!!
Besides the crazy size how long did that take a transfer?
Edit - Oh, maybe you didn't do the backup online (maybe I should read things first)

Re: just cloud
Is that 3 or 4 dollars per year, month or just a one off payment, any of those would be great value.
I started the back up yesterday morning at 6 am, I suspect it is still going, It asks how much resources it should use, my pc is on 24/7 because of the ftp server so I had it chunter away in the background UN noticed.
By the way, I do use ubuntu, dropbox, skydive free is good but they fill up very fast.

3 or 4 a month yea. well i paid for 2 years in one go
it does incremental backup, so once its there doesnt do it again unless changed
it also keeps stuff that is deleted so can recover old files too

Re: just cloud
Had a look at the Just cloud site they're not exactly up front with their pricing. I did find the business plan prices though - £19.95/month for 100GB, £49.95/month for 500GB. It isn't obvious on the home page where to look for the price of the Home Plan, but from IFGL's post it must be around £90 per year (with maybe a nice discount on the first year to get you hooked).
I've been backing up online for years, but only the business data that I generate (not photos though) and those backups. created automatically in the background, have saved my bacon on more than one occasion. My ongoing incremental backups have not yet reached 2GB so fit well within the capacity of most free services.
I'd think long and hard before committing to terabite backups on the cloud at the moment far too slow and expensive and leaves you exposed to unscrupulous cloud guys upping the rates once they are holding your data, or worse.
Also, will not ISPs be putting the brake on users' bandwidths once terabites begin to flow through their accounts?

Re: just cloud
Sorry to be a bit of a numpty, but how secure is an online backup? Is at risk from hacking or server failure? I couldn't even begin to consider it at the moment with an internet speed of 0.52mbps but it maybe worth considering in the future. Is it preferable to using an external drive?

Re: just cloud
Only you can see what is on your external drive, which is not a bad thing. I don't think I would keep other peoples images in the cloud

Re: just cloud
My concern with cloud backup is that someone else has your data. With Adobe moving over to cloud storage and usage of it's suite of programs and charging for the privilege, how long will it be before cloud storage becomes susceptible to ransom payment?
