Scoring acrylic on a CMC?

I've got a buch of small (10x8) acrylic glazed frames to make. I thought about scoring the acrylic on the CMC. Has anyone tried this? I guess there is only one way to find out...

i wouldnt think its a good idea, although i guess its possible

i would just buy them in from a local sign supplier cut to size

i have a local plastics supplier, and recently did 140 frames with acrylic in them. i just ordered 2 sheets cut up to size

really easy and quick on the excalibur 5000 if you have one. If not I would order in ready cut. If you are determined to try on the cmc, use do it at the lowest possible blade depth to just scratch it then increase 1 tenth of a mm until it snaps easy, you may get better results with the blade in backwards. Hover over the stop button.

there are bigger issues than the blade to consider

one would be the swarf from the score, it could clog the head of the cmc

my understanding why most of the cmc companies do enable cutting glass is the same principle

The thought occurs that you could do the same thing much quicker with a knife and a straightedge.

How many have you got to do? If it is hundreds then I would get them supplied pre cut. If it is less than 50 then I would do it on a wall cutter. I use to do all the time would take me about an hour to cut 100.

However I can't see any reason why it wouldn't be possible but I think you will faff around for a few hours waste a few sheets of acrylic so I would have been easier to cut by hand.

It is only 15 so prob will cut by hand. I just wondered, it seems like a natural development; perhaps a scoring tool similar to a debossing tool could do it? Got the point abount the swarf though, i'ts bad enough when cutting a load of v-grooves. Perhaps a vacuum tool is needed, or a brush head?...only joking.

We cut (score) acrylic on our keencut without any problem whatsoever.
Two gentle strokes, quick snap and it's done.

I can do it on my Excalibur of course, I just wondered if it was possible to score a whole lot in one go on the CMC then just snap away. A lot quicker than one at a time.

I would have thought it was a breeze on an Excalibur. If they are all the same size that is..... Score a one way and then turn 90deg and score the other way. take out sheet and snap the bits out.
