Shoutbox

Post by John »

Welcome to shoutbox, you can find it down at the bottom of the main page of the forum (click Board index).

Shoutbox is like a little chat room for all members of the Picture Framers' Forum, where you can chat live with other logged-in forum members.

Comments on the shoutbox can be posted here, or in the shoutbox itself.

Hope you find this to be a worthwhile addition to the forum.

Can the Shoutbox have its own dedicated page. In one way that will not slow down the main page to load and also give an increase in the number of lines./.

Firefox now installed John and yes the scroll bars are a lot better than IE7

Nice one Á, but I have that one in mind for a new forum in which to discuss museum conservation/preservation issues.

Technical observation:

The bold and italic formatting doesn't work the same way in the chat feature (i.e. when you highlight a word and then click on, say, the 'bold' button, it just sticks the codes in beside one another, instead of putting them either side of the highlighted text. Any idea why?

Curiously, it works fine in Firefox, and no doubt other browsers. Which probably means that it is an IE thing. But I will check to see if there might be a coding error.

Anyone using the shoutbox much might want to consider moving to Firefox for the scrollbar, an improvement on the rather clunky static display of IE, I think it might be a tad quicker also.

Thanks for the info, J. No need to worry 'bout changing anything as a result of my earlier comments. Just mentioned it as a point of interest more than anything else. Wouldn't surprise me to hear it's a Micro$haft issue...
