Pricing on Bbest

Post by daisy »

Can't get my brain cells in gear since returning to work... :head: Have just downloaded Bbest to my new laptop and just can't remember the sum to work out prices. In options under prices your are to put in the price for mat board , glass etc. The prices is for a 40x 50cm piece. If I buy in a sheet at £1.79 excluding VAT then please someone remind me how to work out cost for 40 x 50cm piece. Also what is the 'Min' section for. Is it minimum charge or minimum order. Apologies in advance for being a bit dim :sweating:

To get relevant help click the F1 key on the keyboard while in the Options>Prices screen.

On this screen the prices that you enter relate to the selling price for the 40 x 50 size not the cost price of the material.

The Min is the fixed element of your pricing, it covers overheads that are not directly proportional to the material size.

The example shows the setup currently used on our EstLite system. (our 16 x 20in is approximately equivalent to your 40 x 50cms)

Thank you John, another couple of questions we have are ...
1.the markup on moulding set out by the suppliers ie anything from 340 to 385. Where does this come from? How do the suppliers come up these markups. Is it normal to have a blanket markup the same on all mouldings?
2. We have set our Stretching of canvas costs at 9(price)and 3(minimum) (we use cm). The Stetching of something 40 x 40 comes to £15.96 excluding other costs. We have just stetched a 114 x 100 cm canvas and the cost of actual stretching comes to £92.04. Now we think this is far too high and can't imagine the customer going for. We are worried about pricing ourselves out of the market here. The smaller pieces seem fair but anything big just seems to be really expensive.

Initially the mark-ups are applied to the suppliers’ lists by BBEst using the parameters that it finds in Options>Mouldings. Here you can set benchmark mark-ups for less expensive/narrow mouldings and those that are dearer/wider. In our business we use mark-ups of 4.5 for the cheaper, and 3.5 for the more expensive mouldings. The program calculates a percentage mark-up for a particular moulding depending on where it falls in the narrow/cheap – wide/dear spectrum. (In our case typically between 350% and 450%.) It is easy to manually change the calculated mark-up for a moulding by editing the figure in the Stocked Mouldings table.

If you wish to lower your price for stretching a canvas, increase your Min and reduce the Price. Try setting Min to 7.00 and Price to 6.00 for example
