Bespoke oval frame manufacturer

Post by SPF »

I have a request from a customer for an oval frame in a bespoke size, I can make ovals myself to certain moulding profile and dimensions but need a frame outside of my expertise. Does anyone on the forum have any contacts that may be able to assist? The frame would need to be made from a decent timber (not pine) as it will need to be gessoed and gilded.

Any help/ideas would be much appreciated.

Just wondering if anyone has any contact details for a bespoke oval frame maker?
Have tried Frinton but they don't make them & don't know of anyone...
Any other suggestions?

Thanks

You could look for a company which offers CNC routing, or CNC wood machining. I would guess that it won't be a cheap and perhaps a lot more than you want to pay, but it might be worth making a few phone calls!

Here's a few possible links to look at:

Thanks Not your average framer - good suggestion - have been down this route for circular frames before - the high set up charge for one offs is quite eye watering - will see the customer next Monday to view what she has in mind to copy & see if it something which can be done by cnc.

Hi Featurepiece - I will be visiting the customer next Monday for exact measurements - at the moment the window size I have is 90 x 144cms the highest point is 4cms and the width 7cms - no idea of profile shape yet.
