Why do customers always want to match something you are pretty sure you haven't seen for years?!! Does anyone happen to recognise this frame? It's 30mm wide. Don't want to spend ages chasing it because they only want an A4 picture framed so it's not exactly a lucrative job!
Thanks in advance.
To be honest I would say its no longer available and put them on to something else. Even if you do manage to find a supplier then by the time you have covered the minimum order value and paid carraige, will it be worth it for a single A4 frame?
Perhaps try looking for something from the supplier that you use that compliments rather than matches it.
Sometimes trying to go the extra mile for your customer just isn't worth it.
The profile is familiar. Rose&Hollis do a plain oak A860 roughly that shape. You just need to stain and polish it and add a bit of gilt to the sight edge.
That's probably easy for me to say as I do it all the time but a bit of a faff for one A4 frame. It's one of those
jobs where it would be easier to reframe the original in an available moulding if matching up is required.
Can't think of any ready-finished moulding like that. It looks like solid oak.
I tried to get him to pick something else, I always do when I don't have the moulding, but it's to match several others so I said I'd have a go. As you say, just not worth having to get something specially for an A4 picture, but thought it may be worth asking about in case someone jumps up and tells me they have half a length of it languishing in their workshop somewhere!
