Cassese 88 adjustment

Post by Parm »

Hello all. My C88 isn’t pushing the pins in exactly the right place - see photo. Any suggestions on what I should adjust welcomed. Thanks in advance 😊

I'm guessing that the nylon bushes underneath the sliding plate which mounts the fences have become worn as the plate has been slid bewards and forwards between wedge positions. The inside surfaces in the two slots in the top plate casting are often a bit rough, which can wear the edges of the nylon bushes. I don't suppose that this is an uncommon thing to happen on these machines and is propably not considered as anything of any great importance by Cassesse, After all everything still works and after you have taped the back of the frame, everything is hidden.

How old is the machine?

I'm not sure that the CS-88 is still made and don't know how easy it may be to get replacement bushes, If you wish to change them. I suspect that most other CS-88 users don't bother to get replacement bushes, after all, as the flat on the bushes wear the area of the flat on the bush will get larger and present a larger area to wear down, which is likely to considerable slow down any further wear.

It's not going to stop you using the machine at present. I have a CS-88 as well, they are great machines!

Hello Mark - you were absolutely right - the nylon runners were completely worn out on one side - I slacked off the grub screw turned the nylons around to the unworn side and it’s perfect now. Thank you

Well, I suppose that was not bad for a wild guess!

Glad you got it sorted,
It a common problem on the old CS 88 but nothing that can’t be resolved on a normal service.
If you need replacement parts we still stock them and if your happy to replace them yourself we can supply them or do it for you on a service.
Kind regards
