Books and Training Resources

Post by jaybee173 »

Following on from a conversation regarding recommended training books in another thread I am listing those training books and youtube video's links that may help new and established framers learn and become better.

I've added links to where these books can be bought - some are from America so have high postal charges but if you look carefully at both ebay and amazon they usually will come up cheaper at some point.

Also links to free training courses on youtube for all levels and some interesting stuff from Lion on their Youtube Channel - hope it helps somebody and I will also post as a new topic so more people can see.

Just for additional information - there are a number of books available from the Guild bookstore, including Conservation Framing by Annabelle Rushton which doesn't have a link in the above list.

"Mats Mounts and Reversible Mounting by Russ Wood" is available as a digital download, you can buy it direct from Russ, contact via his website greyowlframing.com . It's one of a number of useful books he has written on framing. He's also an active member of "Framers Only" on facebook and "french matting" group too I think.

An excellent list, can I add:

Picture Framing Pete Bingham.

Color & Design For The Picture Framer Nona Powers.
One for those who want to get more into colour theory specifically for the framer. This is or was available as a digital download and according to Nona is better than the printed edition as there were a couple of miss prints in the book and there are also extra and better pictures.

Thanks to Jaybee173 and others who have contributed

I would add "Recharge your Business " by Meg Glasgow. https://megglasgow.com/product/recharge ... -download/

But my main reason to post is to suggest this is such a valuable list, its a shame it will / might get lost amongst all the other posts.

Should it be saved in a special sub section, where it can be easily accessed at any time :?:

Picture Framing by Pete Bingham as recommended above - available on ebay from around £3 to £8 - a bargain for the amount of knowledge contained.

See it here https://ebay.to/34HZ3EL
