Problem with Toyo TC-17 glass cutter

Post by Rainbow »

I bought a new TC-17 head for my Toyo glass cutter. I got the old head off OK, but when I put the new one on, it was loose. I tried to get it off again, but the screw (supplied) was so soft that the screwdriver couldn't get a purchase and all it's done is completely destroy the screw head.

I've tried getting the screw off with pliers but the pliers are too chunky for such a delicate screw.

Any suggestions? :(

OK, I've finally got the screw out. I take it the screw is supposed to fit into the notch in the shaft? I do that, and the head swivels, about 20º. Is it supposed to do that? I've never noticed it swivel before.

The swiveling action is normal. I have two Silberschnit glass cuters and they both have this swiveling action, it is completely normal and there is nothiing to worry about. This swiveling action is very useful if the are cutting to a template!
