Large aluminium frame

Post by Jon_Brooke »

Customer wants a large (just over 1m sq) frame in an aluminium profile. Needs to be flush mounted to the wall, so I would use the supplied slotted fixings that come with a chop service frame from Wessex to hang the frame on two screws - but that would mean hanging the entire weight of the picture on the top moulding.

I'm a bit worried about flex in that top moulding. Does anyone have any tips for adding some sort of tensioning between the top and bottom mouldings to hold the whole thing together?

Thanks,

Jon

you could always use "T" screw security hardware on both the top and bottom rails.

I would be putting the fixings on the two uprights, rather than on the top rail.

Something like this might be useful https://www.lionpic.co.uk/p/13953/Frame ... ium-Frame-

You could also use a frame strap like this one https://www.lionpic.co.uk/p/37094/Albin ... -Frame-Kit to prevent bowing if that remains a concern. We've used these on aluminium frames in the past and they've proved to be very successful.
