Rare mirrored frame

Post by claysinclair »

Hello, I'm hoping someone out there might be able to help.

I was in France a few weeks back and saw the most amazing bit of framing that gave the Pop styled art piece even more pop.

It is a deeply beveled mirrored moulding, that gives a 3D effect to the art. I'm an artist and would love to frame my art the same way. I've spent the last two weeks searching the internet for something similar but nothing. I'm thinking of getting some deep bevelled frames made up and using mirror paint. Would prefer using the same moulding though.

If anyone knew where this moulding came from would be brilliant, but any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Clay

Looks like that could be a polished silver aluminium frame from Nielsen. Like a Profile 214 but in silver.
You might be able to recreate this in wood, with some Stuart Semple mirror paint but if you're working to that size, you'd want a strong subframe to add the necessary strength.

Yeah, that's the way I'm heading at the moment. I think there's gonna be a bit of experimentation. Also got an aluminium sample from Neilson's coming. Profile 56 Will compare the two.

Have a look at the Nielsen Matrix range - the silver ones. They are high gloss and may have profiles you can stack to create the look you are after.
