Hello
Has anyone got any tips for cutting this tall marais moulding on a morso? It's chipping out on the back.
I've tried padding it out with spacers, mountboard, foam etc but nothing really fits the void.
Thanks
Megan

Plastercine is what I use to fill the gap, this usually works on most mouldings.

That's quite a moulding. Only thing I would suggest is try taping the back.

To cut that moulding accurately, I think that you have to make a back support to keep it from rocking.
The most economical way(one time use) is to take some plastiglia clay and wedge it behind the moulding to prevent the rocking.
Next, I would make a plaster buildup of the back of the frame and sand it to be vertical to the fence.

Thanks all. I'll try plasticine. Taping didn't work.
JFeig if I made a plaster support, would I then cut through it on every chop? Sorry if stupid question.

You can temporarily tape it to the backstop to secure it in position. Once it is cut a second pass of the sawblade will just slide by.

From experience, unless your blades are as sharp as they can possibility be I wouldn't even attempt it & even then it might be a complete disaster. I try to stay away from stuff like that & if that's what they absolutely want it and nothing else will do I'll order it on chop. Joining it will also be another headache if you're using a standard underpinner. I have enough grey hairs at this point - I don't need anything to increase the rate they develop.
Good luck
