A customer has just asked me to frame four CDs (cases and discs) so I went straight to Lion who used to sell CD mounting studs only to find they don't any more. Does anyone know if I can source these from somewhere else? Or does someone have four gathering dust somewhere that I could buy?
Is it because CDs are practically historic items now? Personally I still have hundreds!!
Mounting CDs
Re: Mounting CDs
A method used to mount vinyl LPs is to use mirror mounting screws. These have a cap which covers the screw head.
Theses are not made for the purpose of CD/Record fixing so a bit of adaptation may be called for.
You would need to fix little wood blocks behind the backing for the screws to bite into.
Never used one myself.

For records etc we usually use paper fasteners. I'd like to think they'd also work with CD's - I can't remember the size of the hole though

If you google 'plastic binding screws' you will probably find something suitable

Re: Mounting CDs
Replcement CD cases are easily available and can be cut up to use the part which clips in place into the centre of the CD to bedisplayed. It can be quite helpful to gently heat the plastic before cutting up the CD case, before attempting to cut up the material of the CD case to avoid it becoming brittle while cutting it.

Re: Mounting CDs
For records I use car body trim clips so I imagine CDs would be a similar sized hole.
The clips are plastic and you push through the outer ring and then screw in the middle bit to tighten, you can then cut off any bits that are sticking too far out the back.
