I have seen a local framer who prefers to use barrier board as an under mount onto which the artwork is secured.
Reason - cheaper than using mountboard.
Any comments on this practice?

Re: undermount question
As long as it's as thick as the mountboard, no problem. The floppy 2-ply stuff really isn't man enough.

Re: undermount question
Arqadia do it in 550, 1100, 1650, 2200 and 4200 micron thicknesses. Same outside dimensions as mountboard (820 x 1120) with jumbo available in the 1650 only. Priced much the same as their mountboard.
