Hello there I am new to picture framing and have recently purchased on old pistorius underpinner. However it doesn't underpin very well, I suspect that a part is missing, the part used to guide the wedge into the wood. There is a guide which the wedges are pushed against, however there is nothing to hold the stack of wedges in place as the pressure is applied from underneath. I have included pictures to try and make more sense of my description. Does anyone know if instruction manuals are available? If so from where, and also, are spare parts are available? and if so, from where? Any advice is greatly appreciated.
Many thanks
Colin

Re: Second hand Pistorius
From this Grumble thread, it seems they have gone under.

Anyway, I'm not familiar with this machine at all, but in your photos I see a 'V' shaped block and a strip of wedges that should surely fit in to it, but they seem to be in the wrong way?

Re: Second hand Pistorius
It might prove helpful to find out if any suppliers used to supply Pistorius underpinners in the UK. Who knows they may just have a manual and perhaps some spare parts still in stock.
Can anyone supply further information?

Re: Second hand Pistorius
You would be right assuming a part is missing, Ive took the liberty of photo shopping your picture to give you an idea of what it should look like, I have a Pistorius but yours looks to be a slightly different model to mine, however the basics should be the same, the guide for the hammer is in two parts one of yours appears to be missing (see 1) number 2 is where the hammer comes through the side that is indicated is where the raised section of the hammer should be, thats the bit that pushes the wedge into the moulding
i hope this makes sense if not pm me your telephone & i'll talk you through it
