Framing a Tea Towel

Post by shepherdn »

Dear All

I have my first (Royal Wedding!) tea towel to frame - should I sew it on to a backing board before framing?

thanks for your help

Does the whole thing have to be shown (float mounted)? - If so then it should be pretty easy, as long as it has a hem, to stitch through existing stitch-holes in the hem, (not every hole just - say - 2" apart) but in that case it can't really be 'stretched' and it may not lay perfectly flat.

If it has a hem or any sort of border that is OK to cover with a window mount (or two/whatever) then fabric (such as calico) extensions could be sewn on and it could be laced, which would make it flat.
