Rolled up photo

Post by CalicoFraming »

I've got a glossy photo to frame, 30cm x 40 cm. It's been tightly rolled up so I'm wondering about flattening it out a bit before framing .Any suggestions?

Thanks
:D

Might be worth contacting any photo processing labs in your area to see if they have dry mounting facilities.

Dry mounting is a good idea, but you can use self adhesive boards instead although I would always use the former.
To flatten curled up prints I place a weight (a box of underpinner wedges) on each corner for a couple of days or more.

Every order we take is placed flat in folders we make, one of the few advantages of having a 2 week lead time is when they are removed from the folders they are flat.

I like the idea of putting the photo in a folder - what material would you put next to the photo surface? Mountcard? Tissue? Something else?

Some have mount board, some have acid free tissue, some are made from the fluted plastic stuff I forget the name of, depends what the Item is. we also make boxs for any stretched canvas we get in, the order form/ticket is then stuck to the front, we have 6 shelves (made from fire doors so quite big) named Monday to Saturday, we then know which shelf it's on from the date on the ticket.
