My name is Gentysteve and I have been operating my small framing business 'Keepsakes Framed' for about 10 months. I am a member of the Fine Art Trade Guild & Institute of Carpenters, as I am a time served joiner! I specialise in bespoke framing primarily to conservation standard. We get involved in all types of framing including object framing in standard and/or bespoke shadow box frames. I wanted to develop a box frame which could be relevant for all types of special occasion memorabilia.

Cheers, looking to develop further but conscious that too much choice confuses customers what does everyone think?

Re: Hi All
Hi Gentysteve and Welcome.
I spent 30 years specializing in object framing and my main specialty was glass cases, though I probably produced a greater variety of box frames than I have seen produced in the market today. If you have the variety of skills, then it is not necessary to confuse your customers because you will soon be able to offer the best products for the criteria needed.
The range of skills that could be developed in 3 dimensional framing is only governed by the depth of the market you want to serve.

Re: Hi All
Yes I agree that the complexity of the job is largely dictated by the specialism of the framer!
I was more referring to the choice of moulding & mount board options when designing a framing web shop?
Do you really need to offer 100 mouldings & 50 mount board colours?
Surely a focused condensed range simplifies it for the customer providing choice across the colour spectrum and moulding style is reasonable?
