My name is Dave and I can't stop reading the Framer's Forum :Slap: I've tried making frames to distract myself but I just can't keep away. Don't tell me Missus

Hey ho, time to put the kettle on and open another tin of biscuits...

Hi Peter,

my background is in photography and I still like the smell of fixer 8) Took a career change and studied dispensing optics but missed being creative so started photography again and framing. Started making and selling frames in 2010 and joined the Framer's Forum in 2011. I work from home and make a handful of hand finished frames a week so very small time but big on simple quality. I like working with ash, oak, walnut and painted tulipwood, all simple profiles and simple finishes. I have to say, working with art and frames is a happy old business isn't it :D I'm lucky enough to work with John Ruskin originals every now and then.

Tried having a break from the forum as I thought I was becoming addicted but that didn't work did it

Hi Dave

Thanks for that info' it was interesting and enlightening :D

Like you I find the whole framing business a "happy old business"

My wife and I ran a small but very successful framing shop/gallery for many years until I retired early because of some health issues. I loved every minute of it and to earn a good living at the same time must be unique.

I set up for a second time in my double garage a couple of years and operate by "appointment only" It's working far better than I expected and only attracting serious customers

Like you I find the FF (and the Grumble) fascinating. I need to be very firm with myself and only log on towards the end of the day when the work is done.

Peter.
