hi everyone,

I’ve made a couple of posts already and would like to introduce myself.
I’m Debbie, I’m nearly 50 (yikes!) and suffer from anxiety which sometimes confines me to the house so I’m looking to set up as a mainly hand finished framer from home (with hubby’s help)
At the moment I’m green as grass (I was only introduced to framing 8 weeks ago by a local artist)
I’ve bought some secondhand equipment to start me off on my journey - morso f, cassese foot operated underpinner, keencut cutter etc and thanks to the help of a near retired framer and some good people whom I’d never met before who have helped me tremendously (big thankyou to Neil stout x)

I’m reading, watching, learning everyday - seem to have one step forward two steps back with the learning process

Hi Debbie,
Sounds like you've made a good start!
If I can offer a few tips, there are some good (and not so good) videos on Youtube, I can recommend the Rinaldin series of videos, for framing techniques and also for Morso tips.
The Conservation Framing book by Annabelle Rushton has plenty of useful information in it.
I was advised that it would take around 4 months to get my head around it all, that was a good warning and a good marker point to look back and see how far you've come.
A supportive partner has made all of the difference too!
Good luck!

Hi Debbie and welcome. We are a pretty friendly lot, so don't feel shy. We all were beginners at one time, so we know what it's like. I hope that you will enjoy being part of the gang.

Best wishes,
Mark

welcome Debbie

sounds a good idea, it will give you an interest for sure, anxiety can be
a crippling condition.I was 60 when I took up framing it took me a while
for the stuff ,materials etc to sink in to my grey matter, the good people
here are a minefield
of information if you get stuck on anything, good luck
