Paperweights

Post by Glimpse »

I noticed on another post someone using pebbles as paperweights and thought I'd share this. These glass paperweights are sold as promotional gift items, and have a recess to take a printed insert which is held in place by an adhesive felt base...

You can get printed lead-shot-filled leather ones from similar promotional product suppliers but the minimum order makes them not cost effective. Shame really as they look lovely! What do others use?

One is a granite kitchen worktop sample wrapped in Melinex and the other two are made from 4x4" pieces of 2mm glass stacked and bonded together with contact adhesive and then wrapped in suedette. They are also wrapped in melinex to make them wipe-able but they weren't always, which is why they is so mingin'

I have blocks of lead wrapped in gaffer tape. I always use them with a piece of mount board or blotting paper on the artwork.

I've got a dozen of these, that someone working at a granite yard gave me. :D One side is nicely polished but I also put a piece of board down first.

For sales counter use, I always preferred "white tube socks" filled with a bag of beans or rice. They have no sharp corners and the cover can be thrown in the laundry when dirty.

I normally just use my cup of coffee :winky:

I put a bit of mountcard down and use tape dispersers for the weight, on the front desk i have some ceramic drinks coasters that I use (without the coffee cup on)

I have a shower screen manufacturer near me, and on a recent clearance day I failed to find a new shower but bought glass bathroom shelves for £1 each instead - 38cm long, heavy, nice smooth edges, toughened glass and a bonus being see through when there's no border on images. I have some small round paperweights too but they often aren't heavy enough for the heavyweight prints that have been rolled up for 10 years! :D
