CC Paste

Post by newie31 »

Evening people,
I am a member of a framing group on FB which has a lot of American members, they were talking about CC Paste (corner closing paste) which I'd never heard of. I looked it up online and contacted the company in the US and they said they were just about to supply Lion PFS in the UK.
I ordered it last week as I had a batch of 30 matt black frames to make for an exhibition, in the past I've had issues with the slightest nick or misalignment sticking out like a sore thumb, if you try and use a filling wax it goes shiny and I don't like using pens either.
I used it for the first time today and I have to say I was impressed by it, easy application and wipes clean leaving no residue and does not effect the matt finish of the moulding.
On the video the guy uses it to fill a corner gap that makes you wince, most people would bin a frame with a gap like that, but for what I was using it for, I found it excellent.
Just wondered if anyone else had used it and what they thought of it (probably opening myself up for a load of criticism here).

My default black mouldings I keep in stock are D&J Simons ECON range and for a gloss black alternative Wessex B1615. I find they cut and join with no problem and without the need for filler or paste. :) Although, I would recommend cotton gloves when handling the Wessex B1615.

If however, a "touch up" pen is required, I use a White Board marker by "Lizao. Absolutely excellent, matt black finish and not a trace of mauve.

Can I join Steve N and thank you for the review.

Peter.

The tools look useful too! Lions obviously didn't think the finger protectors would take off...
Interestingly, I recently read something from the US raving about the nail hole fillers we use here which are now available in the US!

I've not tried it, but being water based might be a useful advantage if you are thinking of mixing custom colours by adding some acrylic artist paints to get an exact colour match for the moulding in question. Quite pricey, but may be worth it, if it works really well.

Seems a bit pricey, not much different between here and USA, just a different currency symbol, :wait:
