The White Decision?

Has anyone given up on white frames, no matter what I do (and even with chop) I cannot get away from black lines at every corner joint.
I've not found a particularly good filler and most times the line is so minute there's nothing to fill.
time to not offer white I think.

Have you ever used one of the fine crack fillers from polyfilla etc?

When needed we use Lion code 9424, Moldurarte Frame Putty (page 96 of catalogue no 54). It also comes in a variety of other colours and is far easier to apply than any wax fillers.

I use white emulsion paint, which I have put into one of Lion's pots with the red top, it's gone a little thick like double cream, i just dip my finger in, pop a bit on the corner, then wipe with a damp cloth, job done  :ninja:

Liberon retouch cream. Smooth a tiny amount over the join with a finger then wipe away any excess.

Keith -

Try CC paste from Lion (9846). I've tried just about everything but this works really well. It fills well and wipes off any surface with a damp cloth leaving no residue. I resisted trying it for ages, mainly due to the price, but it comes in a big tube and seems to last for ages. I'm still only half way through my first tube and there's no sign of it running out.

Good luck, Jonathan

Because I use a lot of white mouldings I stock D&&J Simmons ECON/0035, ECON/0033 and ECON/0019. They cut and join fine and black lines are not a problem. Perhaps it's the finish :?

Plain wood and paint them. White sells well.

CC paste here as well, feels pricey but it's worth it.
The white also mixes to different colours very easily using Lion's Mixol stainers or even paint.

I use "hard as nails" it's not really a filler, but a water based gap filling adhesive. Squeeze a little onto you finger fill the gap and wipe off the surplus with a bit of kitchen tissue. Easy!

Thanks for all of the suggestions, I'm steadily working my way through them on off cuts and the like.

I use CC paste as well which is very good also you could try colouring the joining faces like you do for black etc. with white pastel or CC paste before joining then the filling agent is already in the joint and squeezes out and just wipe the face.

My bug bear is black particularly wessex B1523 which some of my customers have had already and want it again to match posters they have had already. It's hit or miss how it cuts no matter how careful you are somethings you get a small bit of chipping on the face cut not down to bare wood but a small layer of the finnish and even minute it really stands out and no filler disguises it.
So if any one knows of a I would say its Satin/matt Black approximately 20x20mm that cuts and joins well I would be interested to know. Have just ordered a length of Wessex WF524 from there essentials range to try that, which may well be the same as D&J Econ range
