Just be grateful - very grateful for the answers on here

Post by Keith Hewitt »

I look at the French equivalent of this forum very infrequently.
Nothing has changed since I last reported.
Its a forum where there are plenty of questions but rarely any answers.
4 examples
1) A framer wanting help with his Fletcher.>>>>> 1075 views
2) A question about 2 sided adhesive. >>>> 1,223 views
3) Where to buy mouldings! >>>>>> 1332 views
4) A framer asking for a manual for Valiani 150 and a Fletcher 3100 >>>>>> 2281 views.

And what do all 4 have in common. :head:

NOT A SINGLE RESPONSE!

Unbelievable
Thank goodness we can rely on the faithful on here.... Prospero and NYAF to mention just 2

It's a lot more than just two of us. Just look at the newer members who start for as complete beginners and develop into those who so often are answering so many of the questions. There's lot, that's special happening here and no one is making it happen, it is just happening and everyone is in some way, part of it. It's not over organised, or over regulated and members have the freedom to be themselves, that's why it works so welll.

I see that the man in the photo has a striped shirt like the French onion sellers of years ago. Is this supposed to be a Frenchman and if so, what happened to the onions?

The website is not much help to me. My school got a real french lady french teacher and things were getting off to a good start, until she got pregnant by another teacher, which caused big trouble with the other teacher's wife and both teachers left and that was the end of me learning french!

Marks reference to the french lady teacher reminds me of an amusing incident from a visit to a frame show in Paris many years ago.
I was going out for dinner with Robin & Lesley Lockwood from Keencut
I had to book the table for 8 in total,
We were eating at Bar a Huitres at 8 pm
I phoned the restaurant and asked " Do you speak English ? NON ! :Slap:
So in my best French i made the booking something like this :giggle:
Pourrez Je reserve un table pour ce soir
OUI Combien personnes?
Huit personnes
A quelle hueres ?
A huit hueres
Et votre nom monsuieur
Je m'apple HEWITT which when mangled sounds like HUIT
to which the man replied.
OK cest huit personnes , a huit hueres, a Bar a Huitres pour Mon HUITRE
And I became known as Mr Huitres for the rest of the show.
