Anti-Reflective Acrylic

Post by Framernathan »

Has anyone used this anti-reflective acrylic for framing?

As far as I know none of the framing suppliers do anti-reflective acrylic unless it's the expensive Optium or Lifetime.

Anyone used it?

Is it anti static? Many of the cheaper brands of acrylic are not that easy to keep clean because of the level of static electricity attracting dust.

Not much good for using with mounts, I would say. As it says at the foot of the page

Please Note: This material is not suitable for use in front of a TV screen. This sheet of material is only clear when something is pressed directly to the back of it. If there is space in between, it can cause a frosted effect.

I requested a sample.

I was under the impression this was anti-reflective but perhaps it's good old fashioned non-reflective. I didn't notice the text at the bottom.

I'll see once the sample arrives.

Yes, the website calls it non-glare at the bottom of the page. :(

"If the image is not directly touching and completely in contact with the acrylic across the entire surface, it will appear very frosted and distorted – even if the gap is only a few millimetres." So no good for mounts or spacers.

Centrado have recently started offering an Artglass product called Lifetime Acrylic. This claims to be anti-reflective and 100% UV blocking. Impressive. It comes with an equally impressive price of over £1k for a 1490x1930 sheet although available CTS. I’ve not used it yet so unable to give an opinion.
