Changing hammer piston on Minigraf underpinner

Post by boscawen46 »

I've had my Minigraf 4 underpinner for over ten years and it has served me well. I noticed over the last year or so that it wasn't driving the wedges in fully and they were standing proud by a small amount. It transpired that the hammer surface that comes up against the wedge had worn by about 2mm. I was going to have it serviced but that came to a lot more than I wanted to pay.
I bit the bullet and bought the piston/ hammer unit from Simon's and fitted it myself. It was a very easy process. If anyone is out there has same problem I would suggest doing it yourself. If I can give advice let me know.
BTW The underpinner works like new now. Very happy !;
