Canvas Stretching Machines For Sale

Post by philm »

2 Gapp Canvas Stretching machines (Canvas Stretch Master Production 1.2m x 1.2m)

Ideal for stretching canvas with less effort and in higher volumes! With one of these machines you can stretch two sides at once and can easily complete a canvas in a minute or two. They have been used but are very clean. They will stretch up to a 50" square canvas.

* Air operated so just need a basic compressor to run them
* Use on any stretcher bar depth - I had them set up to use 2 with 18mm bars and 2 with 38mm bars - quickly go between depths though if using just one machine
* Massive increase in production speed
* Just need a compressor and air stapler
* No more cutting excess away from corners - nice tight stretch ensures corners are nice and flat!
* Excellent condition

Personally, I think the best setup is to have one machine set up for 18mm bars and one for 38mm bars and do both the landscape and portrait stretching on one machine. At an OK pace I find I can make 10 per hour on one machine including trimming the excess canvas off the back and taping the backs of the canvas - so the whole stretching process. If you had one machine it would only take a minute or two (max) to change the settings from 18mm > 38mm (or any other frame depth)

Another way to use them is to set them up in pairs, using one machine for the portrait side & one for the landscape side which is said to increase the speed and apparently with the right operator & depending on the size you are supposed to be able to produce 150 - 300 finished canvas per pair per day.

These machines brand new cost £7000 each. I am looking for around £2500 for the pair (no VAT), or will sell individually also. I have four of these machines. I am scaling things down here due to a long term illness that keeps getting in the way of my work, but I plan on keeping 2 for the future as I like them so much, in case I get the chance to spend more time on my business again and increase my order volumes!

Due to the size of these machines they need to be picked up by the buyer. I am based in Melton Mowbray (Leics) LE13 1NA

Please message me if you want any more info

Thanks!
Phil

You can see all four machines in the images below. Two can be fixed back to back as seen or one can go against a wall

Nice machines I can see why you operate them in pairs. Unfortunately I no longer do any canvases.

Thanks

They are very good - even for someone who doesn't do a large volume they're well worth having as they make it so much easier and faster

Hi Nick

Apologies for the delay. I have measured them up today and one of them would require the following space:

Length: 80"
Width: 26"
Height: 75"

And then you'd probably want a gap of around 20" or so between the machine and your bench to work in

I hope this helps

Cheers!

I would be delighted to buy one - I assume the frame for a single would bolt to the wall. £1250 for a single?
