Valiani Mat Pro 120 for sale

Post by portobelloart »

This pneumatic mount cutter has served us well as a back up machine, but we really don't use it enough
Bought second hand in 2013, but shows no signs of wear

Hi - I run a one person framing business and up to now have been using a simple manual mat cutter, but am looking to upgrade. I can't afford a CMC, but have seen the YouTube video of the Valiani Mat Pro-i, which looks pretty impressive, seemingly providing good value for money. I am interested in your feedback given that you will have had experience of this cutter. How versatile is it? Does it cut accurately every time? How easy is it to use?

We have the Valiani mat pro 150 with the standard green head which we kept when we bought our 120 CMC so that we could continue to cut jumbo boards. It is a good solid workhorse. Also got a lot of use before we upgraded to the CMC and it still cuts as good as new. The machine itself is very easy to use and is very accurate on each and every mount. It is quick and simple to set the stops and you can cut up to 3 layers using the adjusters on the stops to change the aperture size. A quick change of depth by turning the dial allows you to cut different board thicknesses or do V grooves. Changing the blade is also quick and simple and you get plenty of mounts from each blade so it is economic to run too. We have the oval/circle cutter attachment on ours. This is also good and you can cut glass oval/circles on it too.

If you are looking for a step up from a flatbed mount cutter and can't afford a CMC then one of these would be a very good purchase. Having said that if you can stretch to a CMC you will be amazed how much more time you will save and how much more creative mounts can be and you won't regret the purchase.

Hope that helps answer your questions.
