Hi fitz,

Have a look at my picture in the link to the following forum thread: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=3597&p=35230&hilit= ... ire#p35230

Hopefully there's a little bit of inspiration for you!

Thanks Mark. Quite fascinating to see old posts covering issues that never go away, they simply modernise. I mainly use cord of varying thicknesses but amongst my customers I have many of the surrounding ‘big hooses’ as we call them including the Gleneagles Estate and Gleneagles Hotel. I’m often asked to repair and refit old ancestral frames and to replace the wire. I actually dont think that the modern cord looks right and prefer to replace with the traditional brass wire. Enjoyed reading through these posts from 2009..

Hi fitz,

I used thicker brass wire than I needed, so that the wire was a lot stronger than I needed, which was to reduce the possibly of corrosion if the picture was hung on an unplated nail and any slight corrosition occured between the brass wire and the nail. Plated nails would prevent brass to steel contact and prevent the corrosion from occurring!
