Purpose of the Job
The Artwork Presentation Technician role will be required to act as one of our
primary artwork presentation representatives for individual jobs and also for the
company.

Key Responsibilities [in order of priority]:
Mounting, fitting and finishing of a wide range of frames and artworks, using a variety
of methods, to museum and gallery standards.

Good knowledge of museum standard conservation-grade materials, in particular
relation to artwork presentation and fitting methods.

Knowledge and experience of all basic framing equipment, including use of the
morso and mountcutter.

Mounting and hinging artworks using varied techniques such as Japanese hinging,
pinning and tabbing as well as cutting fillets, fitting a range of glass and acrylic
coverings and attaching fittings and sub-frames.

Checking that all products meet the correct specification.

Monitoring and maintaining the quality of the order

Updating i-framer throughout the day as orders progress.

Receiving goods inwards and updating stock records

Maintaining correct stock levels

Ensuring and engaging in good housekeeping in the fitting room and storage areas
at all times.

You will liaise with other production departments and the Production Manager to create
a successful workflow which minimises waste and delays, in addition to discussing
potential delays in production.

Ensuring collaboration between different staff in different departments

Complying with health and safety standards and workplace legislation

Recommending changes and improvements, in an ever-changing industry

Assisting with the development of guidelines for standards relating to standardised
processes and quality.

Responsible for clear and effective communication to clients, utilising an agreed and
adaptable terminology related to the business ethos

To undertake any other duties which are consistent with the function of the job.

To maintain a responsible attitude to the work in hand and at all times to act as a
representative of FRAME London.

What are the main work pressures and challenges?:
FRAME London is consistently expanding and developing, therefore the ability to prioritise, innovate and holding excellent time-management skills are essential to this role.
Activities around the framing process must be facilitated as efficiently and professionally as possible.
Due to the nature of this post, a flexible approach to hours will be necessary and will include evening and weekend work: basic hours of this position are 40 hours a week but working overtime in evenings and weekends, on site or away, may also be
required to ensure that the framing is completed on time.

Key Dimensions [eg number of staff directly managed, budget responsibilities,
specific authority levels, types of decisions taken etc]:
Teamwork is essential. Some aspects of the job, however, require individual work,
involving personal initiative and self-motivation.
No members of staff are directly managed by this post, but it is essential that the
holder can liaise effectively with several different areas of the business, often
simultaneously.

Who are the main contacts of the jobholder and what are the relationships to
these contacts [eg managing, influencing, advising]?:
This role will report directly to the Production Manager.
This role will be expected to liaise and get advise from the Artwork Presentation
Lead

Person specification

Education - levels
Good general education including GCSE/O Levels or equivalent

Specific technical/professional skills & experience:
Contemporary Fine Art picture framing: 3 years Fitting and finishing experience (mount cutting, artwork mounting, glass cutting, fitting, wrapping) Ability to work accurately and to high standards. Methodical approach to problem solving. Highly developed eye for detail. Excellent time management skills.

Work experience, likely former jobs
Knowledge of the contemporary art world is essential, so experience within a gallery, artists studio or other framing company is essential.

Specific interpersonal skills
Excellent team-worker. Able to use initiative and self-motivate. Excellent communicator, both
spoken and written.
