Experienced Picture Framer for Urban Art Gallery - Part time

Post by BSMTSPACE »

Company description

BSMT SPACE hosts the best in current Urban Contemporary Art. Situated in the heart of Dalston we continually work towards maintaining a space that connects people, ideas and projects together, a gallery space galvanised!

Born out of a disused black basement, the gallery has evolved over the past 7 years to gain a reputation as a platform to showcase some of the finest UK-based and global artists. Having relocated to a new space at street level on the high road, our goals as a gallery remain the same: the support and development of emerging and established artists, to use the gallery to support causes we believe in and to allow the gallery to be a place to create as well as to exhibit. We produce authentic exhibitions showcasing people and ideas at their best.

We have worked towards maintaining a unique attitude towards the Art world without undermining our professionalism, a collaborative and unique gallery we look forward to expanding our team.

Job description

After having relocated to the new space in Dalston in 2019 we set up our own picture framing studio to offer picture framing and canvas stretching alongside the exhibitions we run at the gallery and are looking for someone new to join our team.
Our current framer is relocating up North to be with family and so sadly we have to say goodbye to her. She will however be here to hand over the role/workshop.

We are dynamic and personable and this is a great opportunity to run an efficient and creative studio within the gallery. The successful candidate must be competent in all aspects of framing and be able to produce work to the highest standards required by our clients.

The candidate should have minimum 3-5 years professional framing experience and be able to work across the entire framing production process. Assistance in advising clients in all aspects of choosing the right frame type that works with their artwork would also be a prerequisite.

Being able to work autonomously and unsupervised would also be essential. As we are still building up the framing side of the gallery, the work will be on a part time basis of 2 days a week until the workload increases. Totally flexible on the days that you wish to work from Monday - Sunday and the more work that comes in the more hours you can do.

This is an opportunity to manage your own framing environment within an exciting gallery space, and an option to diversify your practice with negotiable hours. Looking for an immediate start.

Job Type: Part-time
Salary: £14.00 per hour
