US vs European pricing

Post by JFeig »

I had a young lady from France come into the shop a couple of days ago. She has a stretched oul painting 16" x 22 3/4"(406mm x 578mm). She selected a basic gold color frame1 1/2" wide (factory finish metal leaf). I quoted her $107US (90euros). She was horrorified as to the quote (way too much).

So what would something like that cost a client over there.

£35

I've figured out my problem though.

Not enough of my customers are from Michigan. :)

I looked at my quote and noted that I did overprice my charges........ I charged for UV glass....... a $25 overcharge. It should have been $82.50

You don't say how much per foot the moulding was. But for something decent we are pretty much on a par with you.

But we'd add a surcharge for French people!
