This recent frame got a few favourable comments so I thought I would post it up....
The main part is a R&H scooped moulding which I beefed up a bit with a piece of skirting board stuck around. Gives it a nice 'modern' flat back with just a hint of the chamfer showing near the back edge. I rounded off the top with a router.
The finish isn't exactly what I set out to do, but I went with the flow which produced a very subtle pinky brown. Started off yellow. Dragged a brown wash over and after the gilding was applied, covered the whole lot with a very pale grey wash. I fooled around with the gilding a bit. Added the fake leaf lines at the last minute.
Hard to tell the time, as I did a bit at a time over a few days. I suppose about a couple of hours actually doing something to it as opposed to watching it dry. Maybe three. Spent a bit of time nibbling the rebate of the liner as the canvas was very tatty around the edges.
