Hinged backs on medals in frame

Post by Phil_Leeds »

Hi all,

I am fairly new to this trade and need advice on which hinges are available for backboards and how to fasten them on. I was hoping to cut windows in the back so they will swing open and the medals can be removed when needed for parades. Thanks.

When removal of medals (or any other items come to that) is required I offer two options.

1. Access from the front - expensive.

2. Access from the back - cheap.

Only problem with the cheap option is the frame has to be taken off the wall and placed face down but if access from the back is what you want then all you need are flexible points or turn buttons - and if you don't have a pneumatic point gun, go for the latter.

That's for complete removal of the frame back and board that the medals are mounted to. I don't know about hinges, especially for windows for individual medals - don't see any need.
