How to frame a small silk rug( maybe prayer mat0

I have been tasked by a friend of a friend with framing their small silk rug about 1mtr x 60cm roughly. I am not really sure how to go about it other than to stitch it to a linen or muslin backing fabric. However i am not sure then how to stretch this over a board to centralise it within the shadowbox frame which presumably would be the way to actually frame it. Has anyone done this before? I was told the rug is worth about £3,000 so I need to get it right. Any advice on the fringing also although my customer wasn't too bothered about the fringing showing at the top. Would really welcome any suggestions.
