Migrate Estlite Failure

Post by jay »

Hi, Just tried to migrate Estlite to new laptop following John's instructions on here. I backed on to USB stick, opened Estlite on new Laptop, downloaded and ran, and have now managed to have an unregistered copy as there was nowhere I could see asking if I wanted to restore data. Could someone tell me where I've gone wrong please, and if I should uninstall the unregistered copy and start again, and where I'll find the part to restore the data from my USB stick? :sweating: Thank you!!

No need to uninstall, Jay.

In your new laptop: insert your backup memory stick into an available USB port, and run EstLite.

Click Options>Data>Restore

Locate, and double-click on the backup zip file on your memory stick.

On completion EstLite will shut down, and the next time it is run it should be fully functioning, complete with all of your data and settings.

This is going from bad to worse.... couldn't run Estlite, as kept coming up with pop ups as I didn't have administrators priveliges to perform task. Tried putting my registration key in but obviously don't have all my history now. Problem is, I'm already confused faced with windows 10.... i'm used to 7, and missing it!! :(

A couple of things to try.

Turn off any third party anti-virus Kaperski, McAfee, etc.

Install a printer driver.

If EstLite runs, then follow the data restore steps above.

Sorted!! Thank you soooo much John. Still think it was a tad pot luck that I managed it as I'm so new to this laptop and windows 10 that I'm not even sure at this stage how to turn it off! :giggle: Just trying to get set up tonight before starting my accounts tomorrow.... could be fun at this rate. :sweating:
