thanks for that
I made them on the spindle moulder out of obeche so I can alter the sight edge profile to do a few different shapes
I will post more pictures after they have been finished
Dutch Ripple and other stuff
Re: Dutch Ripple and other stuff
If I was to hazard a guess, I'd say the spandrels were cut from flat obeche with a bevel and in-cut element added and then mitred.
Otherwise you couldn't get the sharp corners if you did it all in one piece. Good thinking.
** As you have just said and I didn't read.

Yes, I can see how that makes good sense.

Re: Dutch Ripple and other stuff
Thanks Fellas
the obeche is 38mm thick and planed down to 30mm
then profiled the sight edge on the spindle free hand first and then fed through on a feed wheel after to do the straight edges and create the sharper edge where the scoop part meets the straight part
Then added a rebate
mitred and pinned as normal after
I have gessoed them this morning

Very nice! Out of interest how big is the whole frame? I think that it could look amazing if it was a substantial size.

Re: Dutch Ripple and other stuff
the rebate is about 16 x 11 inches with an outside size of 24 x 19 - both approx
could be made bigger but like the small and mighty look
