A customer is after a wide profile with a glossy wood finish. Lion used to have a range called Greenwich and the rosewood version is similar to that required. Does anybody have any suggestions of some others I could look at.
Photo of Lion attached about 54mm wide
Many thanks

Re: Trying to find similar
Hi Steve,
I am taking a bit of a wild guess here. I am assuming that the wood grain type could be Zebrano and if this is true, then I am also assuming that this is is going to be a veneered moulding, but like I said it's a wild guess, so I may be wrong. Probably best to check out some pictures of zebrano venners on eBay and decide if it looks like a match. Getting an exact match for the size for a suitable bare wood moulding to cover with a veneer, may not be so easy, but perhaps you might be lucky.
Take a look at this ebay item. I don't know what it will look like when stained and polished. Sorry, but like I said I'm only guessing! I'm not an expert, but it's not one of the wood types that you see every day, but I reckon that zebrano is probably a pretty good guess!

Re: Trying to find similar
Mark,
Thanks for that. Lion’s (now discontinued) range had 4 different colours available; grey, walnut, wenge and rosewood. My customer isn’t too bothered about the wood type, it’s more the very glossy finish on top that matters and at the moment I don’t have the time, skill/knowledge to replicate it.

I would be charging £25 per foot to make a replica of that moulding!

At £25 per foot I’ll ask the customer if he will be happy to pay close to £1000 after I add my mark up!

Re: Trying to find similar
A cheaper alternative might be to use a solid ash bare wood moulding and lightly stain it, building up the stain in layers to get a reasonable colour match an then to finish it with a siutable clear gloss finish. It won't be zebrano, but it still might be acceptable!
