Whats the best thread for lacing cross stitches?

Looking for recommendation's for the best thread to use on lacing aida cloth cross stitches please and where in can be sourced from in relatively large amounts (bigger than standard cotton reel).

Get yourself some crochet cotton Sarah, that'll do the job for most things on Aida cloth
