If they are non-linear i.e. with fancy corners and applied ornaments, then they are next to impossible to resize.
You are better having the made to order. There are several very good companies who can make them to order, including
some on this Forum. :D

As for mounts they can be cut from ready-covered board or wrapped without the fabric of your choice.

Resizing a closed corner picture frame is a whole other realm from picture framing. It is usually limited to the museum collections realm where they are trying to match a period frame for a specific painting. The process needs the skills of a wood carver and a gilder who is trained in the skill of matching existing finish without regilding the entire frame.

As for cost...... if you have to ask how much? You cannot afford to have it done. The charges can be in the tens of thousands of dollars for big jobs. I was trained by people who did this type of work.

One project that stands out in my memory was a hand milled frame with compo enhancements that was about 12' x 12' (4x4m) and a good 12" wide moulding. It was made by a company in Minnesota and driven to an archive museum of a former President of the US. When it arrived in Texas, it was to big to pass through any openings in the building. They had to cut off the top rail and some of the side rails to get it into the building. After it was inside, the frame was put back together with no seams showing. There was a feature story, in a now defunct trade magazine, many years ago regarding the project.

That'll be me then.

The best way forward is to e-mail me a photo of the frame you'd like resized and I can advise on the work required and an estimate cost.
