Moulding ID required please

Post by Miss Eclipse »

A client brought in a ready framed photo of a graduation of her elder daughter. Younger daughter has now graduated and she wants an identical frame. I have looked.....but can’t seem to find a match so need some help please. It’s 35mm x 35mm and looks like a veneer to me?
I’ve looked through Wessex and Centrado catalogues but can’t find a match so any suggestions would be gratefully received.

Thanks in advance.

That's a badly joined pine with an oak veneer moulding by the looks of it. I would explain that it is a poorly made frame and strongly suggest making two new frames in a solid oak, sanded and waxed.

But honestly, how sh*t will it be compared to some actual oak moulding.

Thanks. Think I will have to go with the Lion veneer...she was quite clear she wanted the same.

But thank you for responding!

Update on this too!

I ordered the Lion veneer and it duly arrived. I used a light wood stain and on the sample got it spot on. Then I thought I had overdone it with actual frame. :head: Cue much cussing and friend helping. Eventually I got it looking pretty respectable and contacted the client. She came in and loved the finished result so much she’s bringing the original one back in to be redone! You couldn’t make it up really! Had I known that, I would have steered her away from veneers in the first place (we established that the original was probably a plastic veneer in any case......!)
