Hello from Yorkshire!

Post by Julia Noble »

Hello from North Yorkshire and thank you for having me!

I am an artist and got into framing many years ago mostly framing for myself and other artists which grew to all types of framing, I fell out of love with painting and stopped framing...

Well it didn't last and I am back painting and framing, and loving both - rebuilding the framing business here in North Yorkshire and making a lot of hand painted / gilt frames for artist friends too. I am looking for online certified courses in the UK if anyone knows of a good one could you please let me know?

I notice there is a place to sell too, I have an almost new ALFA A2M FOOT OPERATED UNDERPINNER(U200) and wings for sale so I'll pop it on there.
Only because I have an automatic one so surplus to requirements.

Look forward to reading through all your posts!

Hello Julia and welcome

You haven't said what kind of course you're interested in - general framing or something more specific.

As you've mentioned a lot of hand-painted and gilt frames, this course springs to mind --> https://www.dermotmcardle.co.uk/videos

Dermot (Vintage Frames) is one of our regular contributors here.

Hello Dermot,

Thanks for your reply.

I really want to be able to add accreditations to my website for framing skills. But specialising in finishes and gilding would be perfect.

I’m going to investigate your link thank you. Do you teach too?

Hi Julia and welcome to the Forum!
If you're looking for accreditation then I'd encourage you to look at the Fine Art Trade Guild training. As above, Tudor Rose can provide what you need. Dermot @vintageframes is your man if you want to take your hand finishing/gilding/frame building to the next level.

Have a look at this link and if you're looking to take the Guild Certified Framer exam, then we're trainers and examiners for that.
