Cutting bevel on 2.4mm matboard

Post by Tw_1984 »

I'm having trouble cutting a window in some 2.4mm Crescent matboard.

The bevel cutter on my Ultimat Futura 1200 wont cut through the thick board despite the blade being on it's longest setting. This is the blade at its longest:

I can manually make the blade longer, but it's only the magnet holding it in place (it's far from the screw now) and this gives a me a huge overcut at the start of a cut and I'm not sure I have the skill yet to adjust enough to make this work.

I bought the machine second hand so am not certain that these are the correct screws, from inspecting them I can't tell if they've been shortened, but the screw in this bevel cut blade holder is the same length as the one in the straight cut blade holder.

These are the blades I am using.

The solutions I am thinking:

Use a longer screw? Anyone know where I would begin searching?!
Use a longer blade? Do they exist?
Don't use this 2.4mm mat board, ever?

Hopefully I'm just being stupid here and there's an easy fix. Thanks for any help on this,
TW

It looks too short compared with a new one.

Thank you JKX. Solved.
New cartridge ordered which will act as a spare for cutting thicker boards.

If you can find a place like this and have about 50p in your pocket - just take your screw along!

You can always go to B&Q or Screwfix. Take your screw to these places and their staff will be able to help you. The technical name for that type of screw is "Hex Socket Screws". Good luck
