Markus: new
Hello everyone, I'm Markus, based somewhere in the south of France. I got into framing almost by accident, after spending a frustrating afternoon trying to figure out why a pastel drawing I had done kept shifting inside its mount. That small irritation turned into a genuine obsession with understanding how things actually hold together, and why some setups last decades while others fail within a year or two. What I'm particularly curious about right now is the choice of spacers and their role in keeping the artwork off the glass surface, especially with works on paper that react to humidity. I've read a few conflicting things on that topic and I'd rather hear from people who have worked it out through practice than rely on product descriptions. Looking forward to reading your thoughts and learning from this community.

I'm really confused Markus. You joined the forum in 2023, made a very comprehensive response to a pricing query, that sounded distinctly AI and now you're introducing yourself as a new member in 2026 with your location set to London but saying you live somewhere in south France.
I'd love to advise on best practices with spacers, but not if it's for the benefit of an AI bot....
