Google business results... how does it work?

hi guys, interesting thing here, got a surprise when checking our google search rankings : when you search for picture framing edinburgh, many companies come up on the map listing : http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=pi ... tnG=Search

and when you search for "framer edinburgh" we are the only map listing : http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=fr ... gle+Search

any reason for this? or is it just luck?

Its almost certainly to do with your meta tags.

In your keywords you have included the word "framer". However I chose another site and their keywords are listed below. Note that "framer" is not included. So "framer+edingburgh" should put you at the top.

This is a fine example of why keywords can be so important. Not all search engines place great emphasis on meta tags. As an excersise visit all the other sites in your area and have a look at their tags (Internet Explorer, View, Source). Of course this theory will be blown out of the water if another site uses the same keywords but hey ho.....
