On the forum home page is a section marked "The Framing Oracle" which contains just a few posts. I had no idea that the graphic at the top left of each page was a link to another section called "The Framing Oracle". The two are not the same. I think that I would not have embarked on the website idea had I known about this area. My own fault of course and I agree that video & stuff should be in this area as well.

Just putting the kettle on....

Not your fault at all, Pat! The structure and inception of the Oracle was kicked off last summer, then the Christmas Rush kinda interrupted the flow, but people have been beavering away in background starting to populate it.

John - perhaps it might be a good idea to add a little note drawing the attention of new members to the existence of the Oracle in the "Welcome" topic on the forum?

Has anyone checked out YouTube?

There are a bunch of videos on “how to” for amateurs. Once on YouTube, search for “picture framing” and you’ll get quite a few.

I haven’t viewed too many – they seem to be geared for the do-it-yourselfers, and many of them have a lot of what I would call disinformation, but, if you guys are serious, it might be worth your while to look at them.

I have seen several videos produced by manufacturers or distributors of specialty products like “FilletMaster” and “Attach-EZ” as well as a tutorial of designing and creating fabric mat/mounts by Baer Charlton. So, a lot of this stuff may already be out there.

Some picture framing schools also offer videos of some of the procedures they teach, as well. (Available in the gift shop or on-line at $39.95 – but, wait, order before midnight tonight and receive a free …)

Before you re-create the wheel, it might be worth your while to check out the PPFA web site and see what is already available in their store. Sorry, I’m not a member, so I can’t take you there.
