Hello eveyone,
I'm looking for your advice again...
I am framing a mirror,3 foot by 3 foot(4mm mirrored glass).
Will my rigid tabs, from a fletcher gun(black)be adequate to hold the mirror in place? And if not, could you advise an alternative method,as I would be terrified of having such a heavy piece of mirror departing from the frame unexpectedly....
Thanks
Brian
Framing Mirror..
Rigid tabs should be ok - but use plenty. If you are worried about the tabs - nail some beading into the frame back. If you are using unbevelled mirror glass dont forget to paint the inside of the frame rebate black - it gives you a much better finish - if you dont paint it - you will see the unfinished wood reflected back at the side of the frame. + always advise your customer to use plates to hang the mirror - mirrors leaning forward on wires forshorten the reflected image.
