This nail hole filler is wax based - it never dries. A side note some of the different colors are harder than others, the metallic colors tend to be softer. remelting them and adding additional paraffin wax will make them harder.

The can I have of Dark Provincial Maple could be considered a cement block. Under room temperature I cannot scrape even a molecule of it onto a tempered steel screwdriver.

What works for me is to run the shrink wrap “hair dryer” gizmo over the surface of the wax, so that it melts a little bit. At that point I’ve got a minute or two to spread the wax into the nail hole with a tooth pick. You’ve gotta work fast, though.

A soldering iron is handy for hard wax fillers.

I tried that once when I had to get rid of some caked ear wax. It was a lttle uncomfortable.

I've still got a complete set of the original ones which Lion sold before and can't understand why they were dropped from the Lion range. They were great, so why change things?

I even have a couple of tins of the Magnolia nail hole fillers, which are still in good condition after all these years.
