dust extraction

Post by raph.basan »

Hi,
We've recently bought a brevetti prisma maxi mitre saw and now need some advice on dust extraction. we've bought a 1000watt camvac extractor, which for all its noise does not do much. We've now got a charnwood dual extractor, this seems to be a better option, but i'm still getting a load of saw dust from the saw, we use the workshop for all our hand finishing as well, ie : stains, paints and gilding work, so dust is a major problem that we need to fix. does anyone have any suggestions ? tips ? anything ?

No matter what type of dust collection system you have on a power saw........... a power saw and gilding in the same room do not mix

Yes, I'd second that - I have the same problem. I've got a 2000w extractor for machinery, and can connect it to a down draught table for hand sanding; also an industrial vacuum cleaner to attach to power tools, and an air filter mounted on the ceiling. They all help a bit but the only real solution is to have seperate spaces and an air lock between them!

Try an enclosed unit type from P&J Extractors. They are very efficient and quiet too.

They are not the cheapest but you can often find them 2nd hand.
